Pete has been refereeing a number of NBSA finals for us this season alongside his refereeing at EASB events throughout the season.

Only 4 places for referees were available for the whole European region and Pete was the only English referee selected. Well done Pete!

Thanks to BCI for hosting this final on the match table and thanks to Pete Ogburn for refereeing.

Congratulations to Chris, producing a solid performance, keeping Richard frozen out for much of the match.

Frame 1: 60 - 19

Chris to break. Rich plays a good safety but left with a thin clip on a red following Chris escape misses. Chris in first scores 15 but then a massive miscue. He leaves a thin red but rich jaws it. Chris takes a red but fails to get on a colour. Chris wins the safety battle and picks off another 14 points. Rich pull off a good safety trapping Chris behind the pink, which has made its way into the baulk area, but Chris escapes. Another safety battle ends with Chris picking out a long red. Another 13 to Chris and the remaining reds awkwardly placed Chris plays a good safety and the picks up another red to lead 46 - 4 with 67 on. Rich misses a red and Chris takes another 9 to lead 55 4 with 51 on. Rich picks up 7 points and now needs a snooker. He plays a great safety to baulk cushion and Chris plays a containing shot. Rich wins the safety battle scores 8 and lays a snooker behind the black. Chris plays a good escape. Rich s safety leaves the red as a thin cut to green pocket and Chris takes it and finishes the frame off.

Frame 2: 95 - 0

Rich breaks and the reds are quite open. A safety battle follows. Rich misses a red leaving Chris in with a good chance around the pink. Chris breaks down unexpectedly on 28 but leave the white tight to the pack. Chris gets first chance at a red in the safety exchange that follows and pots a good brown in the middle pocket to get in again, this time making 39 in the end playing a good safety. Leading 67 nil with 59 on. A couple of shots later Chris picks out a good long red, colour and another long red to start a break of 28 to seal the frame.

Frame 3: 77 - 4

Chris pots a red and lays a good snooker behind green. Rich escapes leaving a possible red to middle but bridging is awkward. Chris misses and rich plays a good attacking safety opening the reds wide. Chris picks out a good escape off one cushion, dropping to a red on the black cushion. In the following safety battle rich catches a red thick Chris gets in but both pink and black are congested with reds. He makes 14 before missing a cut to corner but the white is in baulk rich pots a good long red but leaves only a tough pink from under the side cush. He attempts it to middle but misses. Chris in with the reds open he makes 22 before missing a medium range red. Rich isn’t left anything easy though and misses a tricky red. Chris plays a containing safety and rich nails him to the baulk cush. Chris replies with an excellent thin clip on a red to get back to safety and a snooker behind yellow is a bonus. Rich plays cushion first to find a good contact on a red to bring the white back up to baulk. The safety exchange is really high quality. Eventually rich catches a red thick to push another over a black pocket. Chris makes 14 and plays another good safety. Rich misses a thin edge of a red in reply and Chris has the balls replaced. Rich gets it right this time and forces a mistake from Chris but he gets a fortunate cannon to make a pot on the red tough. Rich misses but a couple of shots later gets in with a good long red. He takes yellow and gets down to the reds but jaws the next ball. Chris leads 54 4. Chris steps in to make 23 and take the match.

Many thanks to BCI for hosting this final, played on the match table 7.

Joe attempting to retain the title he won last season and Al attempting to win the title in his first season. Plenty to play for.

Frame 1: 21 - 74

Both players taking a it easy in the opening exchanges, Al having a 21 point handicap advantage over Joe. After a number of safety shots the table starts to look difficult for scoring. Al, cueing well, settles the sooner potting a number of solid long balls to take a good 30 point lead with a few reds left. Joe trying hard to make inroads but with the reds safe it's tough going. Al keeps things safe and then at the end makes a very solid 22 clearance.

Frame 2: 41 - 63

Al's long game again helping him secure this frame, pulling out some great pots and keeping control of the table. Joe is has to be said not getting the running, missing a few reds by millimetres, rattling the jaws and staying put over the pockets. Al takes the frame to be one away from his first NBSA title.

Frame 3: 44 - 73

The balls more open this frame, Joe gets in with his first real scoring of the match so far -- making 21 and having a red near a black pocket with black on the spot and all the reds in good positions he misses. Al steps up and makes a good contribution to keep in front, again playing good saftey when running out of position. On the colours Al gets yellow and green to leave Joe needing snookers, Joe has several good attempts but Al eventually seals it with great pots on blue and pink to take the victory.

Well played Al and congrats on your first NBSA title, hard luck Joe but a great effort to retain the trophy.

Singles League

Cary cueing well potted a lot of good long balls and made na number of decent teen / twenty breaks in each frame just tending to slip out of position. My play was embarrassing and didn't iinspire Cary to have to produce more. Blundered safteys and missed pots galore, glad the season is over!

Semi Finals of the County cup took place last night with JF/CW winning the singles matches and Andy/Harvey wining the scotch doubles in dramatic fashion on the black. All four players missed chances to get their team in but never capitalised. Andy/Harvey went 20 odd up straight away. JF/CW clawed it back to go 18 up with the colours remaining. Lots of safety play and some good pots saw Andy/Harvey pull back to a black ball game which ended with CW going in off in the middle bag. Luckily for us all the singles matches went our way last night to make it through to the final.

Great match Andy and Harvey, See you soon.

Towers win convincingly 6-1 over Welcome Inst in the TTL Plate final.

Andy D got Towers off to the perfect start a 38 and a 56 clearance saw him take the 1st and breaks of 39 and 33 saw him take the 2nd Not much Keith could of done as Andy was just potting everything It was only really developing balls that stopped the breaks being higher.

Molly won a hard fought 1st frame over the unorthodox get down and whack the ball approach of Alan Snell but won the 2nd a bit more easier.

Towers 4-0 at this stage which meant Karl and Steff had to pull something out the bag for Welcome But Andy Taylor had other plans winning the 1st over Karl. Karl though Claimed a consolation frame for Welcome in the 2nd.

Bob beat Steff in there 1 and only frame as both teams agreed there was no point in playing the 8th.

Hard luck to Welcome Inst who put up a good fight and well done to Towers on yet another piece of silver ware.

Also thanks to BCI for the use of the tables.

Singles League

Odd game. Adam was struggling to score and left me a few chances in the balls. I was also struggling but kept picking off the odd 20 break. Pretty much the same pattern in all frames except frame 3 where Adam did a good clearance of the colours to mug me on the line :-).
